‘Biocidal products’ is an umbrella term used to describe products such as surface disinfectants, hand sanitisers, antibacterial soaps/gels, surface wipes, hand wipes, wall & floor coatings, which are designed to reduce the effects of potentially harmful organisms.

To support product claims and to assist in product compliance with the Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) 528/2012 we carry out testing to a range of European Standards including BS EN1276, BS EN 1650, BS EN 13697, BS EN 13704, BS EN 1499 & BS EN 1500. Testing can be carried out using the standard organisms or can be adapted to include alternative organisms required to support individual product claims. If these standards are not appropriate to support a product claim we will develop and validate bespoke methods relevant to your requirements.

The table below highlights common products and their key test requirements – for full details, please consult BS EN 14885 Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics – Application of European Standards for chemical disinfectants and antiseptics.
