[Canada] Allergen Disclosures – Timelines

As of 12 April 2026, companies selling new and existing cosmetics must disclose 24 fragrance allergens on cosmetic labels, if they are above the threshold. The list grows to 81 allergenic substances (lined up with EU extended allergen list) from 1st August 2026.

Compliance for allergen disclosure on product labels is based on specific dates and product categories:

  • April 12, 2026: All new and existing cosmetic products must individually list the initial 24 fragrance allergens if they exceed threshold limits.
  • August 1, 2026: All new cosmetic products must disclose the expanded list of 81 fragrance allergens.
  • August 1, 2028: All existing products placed on the market must comply with the expanded 81-allergen disclosure list.
