Meet Melbec: Helen

For our next ‘Meet Melbec’ post, please say hello to the lovely Helen!

 

How did you come to work at Melbec Microbiology?

I was looking for a change of career, saw the job/role at Melbec advertised and thought it sounded interesting.

 

What is your daily focus/role at Melbec Microbiology?

My present role is Finance Manager and my daily focus is managing the finance, purchasing and HR department and carrying out work related to each of these areas, for example sales invoicing, banking, payroll, along with advising both the purchasing and HR team.

 

What has been your favourite/most exciting project to work on throughout your career?

As I initially started at Melbec as a Senior Technical Administrator, I had not had too much experience in accounting and when our directors asked me to consider the Finance role, they enrolled me onto an Accountancy course at the local college.  It has been great to learn a new skill and have new knowledge.

 

What has been your proudest moment at Melbec Microbiology so far?

Gaining a distinction in the Accountancy qualification but also managing and being appreciated by our wonderful team.

 

What do you love most about working at Melbec Microbiology?

The people are amazing, friendly, nice and kind.  It’s good to be witness to the microbiologist’s work and their intelligence and knowledge of the testing.  The opportunities and general helpfulness.

 

What are you most looking forward to?

Just being a part of the Melbec team, hopefully being here for many years and seeing how the company grows.
