[EU] Spanish Government Notifies a Draft Decree to Introduce Labelling Requirements
The Spanish Government has submitted a Draft Decree to the EU Technical Regulation Information System (TRIS), proposing new labelling requirements aimed at enhancing accessibility for individuals with disabilities—particularly those with visual impairments.
The proposed regulation seeks to ensure that consumer goods carry accessible labelling to support the safety, autonomy, and quality of life of people with disabilities. Under the draft, product labels would be required to include information in Braille, a QR code (or similar digital format), and a tactile marker to help users locate the code on the packaging. All information must be provided in at least the Spanish language.
The draft is currently open for public comment through TRIS until 23 September 2025.
