Due to the success of previous external client training and the extensive knowledge held within the team, Melbec Microbiology are proud to be able to offer Technical Training Courses.

We have many courses to choose from across different microbiological topics, including courses that are specific to the biocidal and cosmetics industries covering a variety of areas, however we also offer our customers the chance to mix and match topics across courses to create a bespoke course that works for them and their staff members.

All of our courses are designed with the customer in mind and can be delivered however and wherever convenient to you. This can be in person at your site or ours, or remotely via Microsoft Teams or digital platform of your choice.

A training course designed for those who work in the biocides, cosmetic and personal care industries. The course introduces microbiology and relates this to the particular industry. Attendees will also gain an understanding of microbiological terminology and definitions.

Course contents includes

The history of microbiology, microbiological terminology and definitions, a look at relevant microorganisms, microbial growth, and microbes and human health.

• You will leave this course with a fundamental understanding of microbiology and how this relates to industry and product development and safety. You will also gain an insight into typical terminology definitions which will allow you to converse more confidently in the language of microbiology.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is ideal for non-microbiology-based research and development lab technicians, graduates, apprentices, and anyone who works in a microbiology laboratory, as well as managers, production, engineering, and quality assurance staff who may be involved in the microbiological safety and efficacy of products both during development and manufacture.

A practical training course designed for those who work in the biocides, cosmetic and personal care industry. The course has a focus on microbiology within the production environment, factory hygiene, the importance of hygiene monitoring and the fundamental practical techniques required for successful monitoring plans.

Course contents includes

A brief introduction into microbiology, a look at relevant microorganisms, factory hygiene and why it matters, factory hygiene monitoring, personal hygiene, and antimicrobial resistance in the manufacturing environment.

• You will leave this course with a basic grasp of microbiology and a clear understanding of the importance of factory hygiene and hygiene monitoring in relation to product quality and safety.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is ideal for those staff members involved in factory hygiene, including quality assurance, production, and engineering staff.

A practical training course designed for those who work in the cosmetic and personal care industry. The course is laboratory based with a strong focus on fundamental practical techniques however attendees will also gain an important insight into the importance of the microbiological safety and quality of cosmetic products .

Course contents includes

A brief look at the cosmetic product regulations in relation to microbiological safety and stability, aseptic technique, pipetting technique, preservative efficacy testing, total viable counts, identification of objectionable microorganisms, and the use of differential and selective growth media.

• You will leave this course with a clear understanding of not only what happens in a microbiology lab, but why the tests are performed and how this relates to both product and consumer safety.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is ideal for research and development lab technicians, graduates, apprentices, and anyone who works in a microbiology laboratory, as well as managers, production, engineering and quality assurance staff who may be involved in the microbiological safety of cosmetic products both during development and manufacture.

A training course that is designed for those who work in the cosmetic and personal care or biocides industries. The course is classroom based with a strong focus on understanding terminology and definitions in microbiological test reports.

Course contents

The course will be tailored to the particular industry and will include: a brief look at the regulations in relation to microbiological safety, stability and/or efficacy, a familiarisation with microbiological terms and definitions, a brief overview of the relevant test methods, followed by reading and understanding reports and results, acceptable criteria, and industry standards.

• You will leave this course with a much clearer understanding of microbiological data and test reports which will allow for more informed decision making during the development or manufacture of cosmetic or biocidal products.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is ideal for research and development lab technicians, graduates, apprentices, and anyone who works in a microbiology laboratory, as well as managers, production, engineering and quality assurance staff who may be involved in the microbiological safety of and efficacy of products both during development and manufacture.

A classroom or online based training course designed for those who work in the beauty, cosmetic and personal care industries. The course aims to enhance the learners understanding of the human skin microbiome whilst also looking at regulations, claims and testing that can be used to support skin microbiome claims in the cosmetics industry.

Course contents includes

An Introduction into the skin microbiome, the role of the skin microbiome in skin health, a look at the regulations (or lack thereof), a look at prebiotics, postbiotic and probiotics, skin microbiome claims, testing to support microbiome claims and the future of skin microbiome testing.

You will leave this course with a better understanding of the skin microbiome and its function in human health. You will also be able to use this knowledge to better inform the development of new products and claims.

This course is ideal for research and development scientists and technicians, graduates, apprentices, marketers, and anyone who works in the development of novel products and claims.
